India posted a total of 240 runs within their allotted 50 overs. Australia chased down the target, reaching 241 runs for the loss of four wickets in just 43 overs. Travis Head’s remarkable innings of 141 runs steered the Kangaroos to victory, supported by Marnus Labuschagne’s unbeaten 58. Mitchell Marsh contributed 15 runs, David Warner 7, Steve Smith 4, while Glenn Maxwell remained unbeaten on two runs.
This triumph marks Australia’s sixth world championship, dashing India’s aspirations for a third title. Despite India’s impressive streak of ten consecutive wins in the tournament, they fell short in the crucial 11th match. This defeat against Australia in the final marks India’s second loss to them in a World Cup final; the last being under Ricky Ponting’s captaincy in 2003.
Kohli and Rahul scored half centuries

Captain Rohit Sharma contributed 47 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav managed 18 runs. Kuldeep Yadav added 10 runs to the total. Unfortunately, apart from these five players, no others reached double figures. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed after scoring nine runs, Mohammed Shami made six, while both Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill managed four runs each.
Jasprit Bumrah could only muster one run, and Mohammad Siraj remained unbeaten with nine runs. Mitchell Starc claimed the most wickets for Australia, taking three, while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood secured two wickets each. Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa also chipped in with one wicket each.

Unfortunately, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav faltered at crucial junctures. India faced its first all-out in this World Cup and subsequently suffered a loss in the match.
