BCCI big decision: The upcoming IPL 2024 season has been embroiled in controversy as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed bowling bans on certain players due to suspicious bowling actions. Among these players is Indian batsman Manish Pandey, who occasionally contributes with spin bowling when needed. Additionally, Karnataka’s K.L. Shrijith has also faced bans on his bowling activities.
BCCI big decision: These Indian players will be banned from bowling
BCCI big decision:The incident came to light when the BCCI shared a list with all IPL franchises, referencing concerns about the bowling actions of seven players. Initially, the list included young left-arm fast bowler Chetan Sakariya, but later, the BCCI clarified it was an error.
The board acknowledged the mistake, stating that Sakariya wasn’t among the players under suspicion for questionable bowling actions. Jaydev Shah, the president of the Saurashtra Cricket Association, clarified the situation, expressed understanding about the error, and highlighted that the IPL was addressing the matter.
On the other hand, Manish Pandey, who occasionally bowled spin in previous IPL seasons, has been banned from bowling due to doubts raised by the BCCI regarding his action. The decision regarding K.L. Shrijith aligns with this investigation.
The BCCI identified six domestic players whose bowling actions raised concerns: Chirag Gandhi from the Gujarat Cricket Association, Guleria from the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Rohan Kunnumal and Salman Nizar from Kerala Cricket Association, Tanush Kotian from Mumbai Cricket Association, and Saurabh Dubey from Vidarbha Cricket Association. This step was taken to ensure the integrity of the game and maintain fair competition in the upcoming IPL season.
