Abhinav Mukund the dashing batsman who ever turned the tide of the match for Team India with his bat, has expressed his pain after being dropped from the team after 13 years. He has now talked about the Test series played against England in the year 2011. The former cricketer told that he was dropped from the team after this series. Had he got a chance, he could have played long innings.
Please tell that in the England Test series played in 2011, Abhinav Mukund scored 64 runs in four innings of the first two matches. During this his bat was completely silent. This was the reason why he was ignored in the last two matches. Team India lost this series by 4-0.
Didn’t get a place in the team for 6 years
After the crushing defeat in the England Test, Abhinav Mukund had to sit out for almost 6 years. He was not made a part of Team India. Talking on this topic, now the player has expressed his pain.
And said that I had a lot of time to think about it. So I thought maybe I could score because I scored 49 at Lord’s. I scored zero and three in the next Test match and so I was dropped.
In between those four tests there was a tour game just before the third test and not many people know that I batted at number three and I scored a hundred for India against Northamptonshire.And soon after that we went into the domestic season and Mukund said that I was not called for the Australia tour or the West Indies series.
Former cricketer discussed on his test debut
During this, the cricketer also discussed about his Test debut. He told that playing international cricket for Team India was a very pleasant experience.
Abhinav Mukund said that it was very strange because I had not played any cricket for the last three or four months. We finished the season, it happened in June. So what actually happened was that I went on the field without any match practice. I reached there and three days later I was playing a Test match.
