England’s batsmen struggled to cope with the sustained attack from Bumrah’s bowling, resulting in their innings being bowled out for 253 runs. In reply, India made a strong score of 396 runs in the first innings and took a lead of 143 runs.
This outstanding achievement also proved to be a milestone in Bumrah’s career as he completed 150 wickets in Tests with his brilliant performance of taking six wickets. He not only achieved this feat but also created a new record of being the fastest Indian bowler to reach 150 wickets in terms of number of balls bowled.
Bumrah achieved the feat in just 6781 balls, surpassing the previous record of fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who took 7661 balls to achieve the same feat. In this record, he is followed by Mohammed Shami (7755 balls), Kapil Dev (8378 balls) and Ravichandran Ashwin (8380 balls). Bumrah’s stellar performance has not only contributed significantly to the team’s success but has also cemented his position as a key player in Indian cricket.
